Here at the Wellington Makerspace we’re massive fans of digital fabrication and distributed, easy, and fast manufacturing. So how could we possible pass up the opportunity to talk about 3D Printers (or “Additive Manufacturing”, to use a more technically accurate term).
We’ve had a play with a wide variety of 3D printers and are quite happy to use any product that works, but of the ones that we’ve tried one particular brand stands out in terms of reliability and affordability and is what we use on a daily basis, so we’ve begun offering them for sale: The Up! Series of 3D printers.
We have made heaps of stuff with ours and they are the proverbial bunch of awesome! These wee guys are fantastic and The Wellington Makerspace Design team have pushed the boundaries with our own UP! Mini’s, UP! Plus 2s, and Up Box machines. But let’s not forget that the machine is less than half of the story – the software to load and run the printer is absolutely critical to a successful experience.
The Up! software is easy to load models into, and requires a minimum of setup, either the first time you plug it in or from there on after. We got our Up Box printing within ten minutes of opening the box, and subsequent prints are just as easy; three clicks and you’re printing. The UP! guys have it perfect! No slicing or dicing, no working out your build material – it really is soooo simple!
Email us for pricing – it changes surprisingly often.
We also support and can supply consumables i.e. spare parts and the various build filaments for – so we have you covered!
2) The all new UP! Box
The UP! Box is as awesome as they come. Massive build chamber and superb detail on everything we’ve printed so far!
Uses the same great software as it’s smaller brethren – the Up! mini and Plus 2!
