Part B - The Memberspace
Equipment:
Included in your Wellington Makerspace membership everytime you arrive we'll give you a 'bottomless' tool caddy.
It's not really bottomless - we can assure you it has a bottom! All we mean is that it is a way for you to use all the tools withing The Wellington Makerspace - it will contain all the useful handtools we think you'll enjoy using when doing your project. Things such as a hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, files, tape-measure, square and knives* are all included, all we ask is that you give it back complete and clean so the next person can enjoy their time with us
Specialist [Chargeable] Equipment:
Some tools can seem daunting to use for the first time and can cause harm if misused and we don’t want anyone hurt whilst creating their awesome projects. So we thought it might be a great idea to offer informal and cheap on the pocket workshops to help you add skills. Please ask us for a course to be scheduled – who knows, maybe other people want to join in too?
Some of our most mission critical and very expensive tools are not currently self service and we ask that your jobs are are queued for completion. This is due to the fact that the Wellington Makerspace also caters for Commercial Clients and we really can’t afford for a laser cutter or CNC router to be offline due to damage.
We totally understand that you might want to use them yourselves but the learning curve takes time and can be dangerous with some machines, so we can offer you the experience of ‘helping us’ with your job instead- or just leave it with us if you don’t have the time! Simply leave your job on the job-shelf and send us an email/or message via our internal management system:Cobot and your project will be completed as soon as a slot becomes available, hey presto!
These following machines are just the coolest things in the whole Universe, but they’re also mega-expensive and we’re self funded by the day-to-day work we do and our membership subscriptions -so we have to charge to use them
[click on each machine to see pricing]. Some smaller machines carry a maintenance charge per use to cover the resharpening of blades or replacement of cutters, such as Power hand Planer and hand Router Bits.
Hopefully as The Wellington Makerspace membership grows, more cool machines will be made available and we’ll be able to introduce self-service!
Digital machines we currently use include:
Other hand machines we have for your use
Bigger tools..]
*Small charges apply
Material and consumables supplies:
As the name suggests, because we have worked in the local Film Industry -we know all the right places to go for our project stuff and over the years have established awesome relationships with all the people you’ll probably ever need to know! This awesome result is our being able to offer our lucky Members and clients great savings on stuff including:
Our Pricing for Services
[Part A]
We charge for our knowledge and expertise in the course of a normal days work – much like you probably do in your job or business – and we need to pay our mortgages too
We do however donate 1 day/week to community projects and helping underprivileged and at-risk kids and your Memberships help us to keep the space filled with kit -we’re not rolling in money and we don’t drive flash cars. To be really honest – we’d rather have a new cool 3D Printer to play with
[Part B]
